Road Closure
ROAD CLOSURE
OLIVE STREET @ NORFOLK & SOUTHERN RAILROAD TRACKS
On Monday, April 30, 2012, at 8:00 AM, Olive Street will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian through traffic between Cleveland Street and Taylor Street. This closure will allow N & S R/R to make crossing grade improvements.
The work zone will be within the railroad’s right of way. This closure will be from Monday, April 30, 2012 at 8 AM to Friday, May 4, 2012 at 5 PM.
All south bound traffic on Olive Street will detour east or west onto Cleveland Street. All north bound traffic on Olive Street will detour east or west onto Taylor Street. N & S Railroad will install all traffic devices at Cleveland & Taylor Street.

The Neighborhood Stabilization Program is designed to assist in the redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes. The City of Elyria has purchased fifteen homes which are completely renovated and include all new energy-efficient appliances, new furnace, central air conditioning, new flooring, carpeting and bathroom fixtures.

Lifeguard and CPR Recertification
This class is offered for current lifeguards who need to recertify their certificate. The American Red Cross now requires 12 hours of class time. The class will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, June 9 & 10, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM each day. Must attend both days.
Registration Deadline: June 5
Fees: $50 for EACH recertification
Non-Resident: $55 for Each recertification

American Red Cross Lifeguard Class
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding class is a program for anyone 15 years or older who would like to become a lifeguard. Swim test will be given on Saturday, May 26 at 9:00 AM. Classes will be May 26, 27: 9:00 AM -3:00 PM. May30: 4:30-7:30 PM; June 2: 9:00 AM-3:00 PM; and June 3: Noon-4:00 PM. MUST ATTEND ALL SESSIONS AND PASS TEST TO BE CERTIFIED
All classes are held at East Pool, 1101 Prospect Street

Hiring of Lifeguards
The City of Elyria is accepting applications for Lifeguards for the summer of 2012.
Lifeguards must be certified in CPR, First Aid & Lifeguarding and/or planning on taking a class to be certified.
Applications can be obtained at the Elyria Parks & Recreation Department, 131 Court Street, Suite 103. All applications are no later than April 13, 2012.
