ELYRIA, OH – Elyria Mayor Frank Whitfeld and Economic Transformation & Business Services Director Dawn Calvert invites area entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs, and local business owners to attend ‘Taking Your Business Online’ a virtual lunch and learn session on Tuesday, December 8 at 12:00 p.m where participants will learn how to successfully establish their businesses on popular e-commerce platforms Amazon, Etsy, eBay, and Shopify. Interested parties must register at www.cityofelyria.org/onlinebiz.

“As the holiday season approaches, we were eager to find ways to support businesses and entrepreneurs in the City – from our legacy family businesses, to crafters and makers selling goods on Facebook. We hope that Taking Your Business Online provides an effective, tangible, and, most importantly, scalable solution for our entrepreneurs so they can safely sell goods throughout the pandemic” said Dawn Calvert, Economic Transformation & Business Services Director.

Although no materials, plans, or items are required for the session, it is recommended that attendees have a current product and/or idea. The interactive virtual session will be held via Zoom, and led by Matthew Poyle, Program Coordinator for the Lorain County Community College NEO LaunchNET.

“The session will cover the rapid growth of e-commerce, how to best adapt your business to the changing environment, and which platform – Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Fiverr – may best fit your business and goals” said Matthew Poyle.

Every session registrant will gain access to free tools to grow their business online.

“I’ve said this a lot, and I’ll keep saying it — we are not intimidated by our challenges; we’re inspired by them. And in this instance, we’re inspired by the opportunity to support entrepreneurs in tackling a new world that will successfully propel their businesses into the consumer-heavy digital space.” shared Mayor Frank Whitfield.
