Fire Hydrants

The Fire Department will be conducting hydrant testing throughout the City beginning Monday, May 1st 2017.  These testings will continue throughout the summer, and will be performed Monday through Friday between 9:30am and 2:30pm.

Hydrants are tested annually to determine flow rates and to flush sediment from the main, which helps to improve water quality.  All hydrants are inspected and serviced with repairs scheduled as needed.

Residents may notice a discoloration of the water during this process.  Should this occur, residents are advised to run a faucet of cold water until it runs clear.  This may take up to five minutes.
