CLEVELAND, September 28, 2020 – Invacare Corporation, a leading manufacturer and distributor of medical equipment headquartered in Elyria, OH, is expected to add approximately 45 new positions at its manufacturing site in Elyria with the launch of a new oxygen concentrator to address rising global demand for respiratory equipment. Invacare plans to build a 10,000-square-foot clean room within its Taylor Street facility to enhance its manufacturing capabilities to produce its new Platinum NXG stationary oxygen concentrator. The company is also evaluating other opportunities which are anticipated to result in approximately 100 additional jobs in its Elyria/North Ridgeville campus over the next three years.

The growth at Invacare’s main campus further cements the company’s commitment and confidence in the talent base in Elyria. The company also cited the business-friendly environment as a reason for choosing Northeast Ohio for the expansion. “Celebrating our 40th anniversary this year, Invacare has had a long and successful history in Elyria. We are pleased with the high quality of associates with strong manufacturing experience available in the area, and we look forward to expanding and strengthening our presence for many years to come,” said Matt Monaghan, chairman, president and chief executive officer.

The economic development team supporting Invacare’s expansion includes the city of Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio Development Services Agency (ODSA), JobsOhio and Team NEO.

“We are thrilled that Invacare is expanding its facilities in the city of Elyria and is stepping up to address this important rising need for respiratory equipment, especially as we combat COVID-19 globally,” said Mayor Frank Whitfield. “Invacare has been a beloved constant and anchor in our community for decades, providing a livelihood for generations of Elyria families. We welcome the company’s new era, look forward to the new jobs coming to our community, and are confident our skilled workforce can meet its needs. This is a celebration of Invacare’s commitment to Elyria and to global innovation.”

“With our dedicated business community and talent pool in Elyria, the Invacare expansion project will propel our community forward,” stated Representative Gayle Manning.

Team NEO CEO Bill Koehler added, “Invacare is taking a leadership role in helping patients recover from COVID-19. We are proud that such a strong champion for public health puts its confidence and trust in our region. Northeast Ohio’s robust, trained pool of manufacturing workers, together with its access to raw materials and suppliers, as well as its outstanding support network including ODSA, JobsOhio and Team NEO, stand ready to help Invacare prosper in its ongoing endeavors.”
