The City of Elyria is thrilled to announce a major renovation project for East Park Pool following the award of $650,000 through Ohio’s recently approved capital budget.
The funding will support a comprehensive renovation of the facility, including a new pool shell, new decking, a new pool play area, a new pump and pump house, a new concession stand, a redesigned entry area, and new locker rooms and restrooms.
“East Park Pool is one of the most popular spots in our parks system,” said Mayor Kevin Brubaker. “This project will allow us to completely modernize the facility, improve the experience for residents, and make sure it continues serving Elyria families for years to come.”
The state funding is the result of months of collaboration between the City of Elyria, Elyria Parks and Recreation, McCauley & Company, the Mayor’s Office, and the City’s state legislative partners.
“I want to personally thank Senator Nathan Manning and Representative Gayle Manning for their support throughout this process,” Brubaker said. “They worked closely with us over the past several months and understood how important this project is to our community. Their partnership played a key role in helping us secure this funding.”
Mayor Brubaker also recognized the efforts of Elyria Parks and Recreation, McCauley & Company, and city staff who helped develop and advance the project.
“This was truly a team effort,” Brubaker said. “A lot of people worked behind the scenes for months to make this happen. This is a fantastic investment for our community.”
Planning and design work for the project is underway, and construction will begin next year. The renovated facility is expected to open for the 2028 season.
Additional information regarding the project will be shared as planning and design work continues.
