Like many communities in our area, Elyria is experiencing limited road salt availability due to supply issues affecting regional suppliers.
Because of these supply constraints, the City of Elyria is conserving salt and carefully managing its use to ensure it is available throughout the winter season.
Roads will continue to be plowed during winter weather events. Salt application will be more limited and focused on main intersections, hills, curves, and other high-traffic or safety-sensitive areas.
City crews will continue working to keep roads as safe and passable as possible under current conditions. Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time, drive with caution, and avoid parking on streets during snow events so plows can operate effectively.
