Simple tips to make sure your recycling actually gets recycled

Why Recycling Right Matters

When non-recyclables or dirty items are placed in your GREEN RECYCLING BIN, entire loads can become contaminated and may need to be sent to the landfill instead.

Keeping recyclables empty, clean, and dry helps make sure more materials are actually recycled.

Empty. Clean. Dry.

Keep your recyclable empty, clean, and dry, to help reduce contamination and ensure your materials are actually recycled!

Empty: Containers should be free of food and liquid.
Clean: Rinse containers when needed.
Dry: Wet paper and cardboard cannot be recycled.

Never Recycle Plastic Bags, Yard Waste, or Food

These items contaminate your entire GREEN RECYCLYING BIN, which means the entire load could be sent to the landfill. Always dispose of plastic bags, yard waste, and food and liquids in the garbage bin.
