Chestnut Commons Drive Closed Until 9pm

Columbia Gas is repairing a major feeder gas line at Chestnut Commons Drive to Stillwater Road. The intersection is closed and will remain closed while repairs are underway for safety reasons. Repairs are scheduled to be completed by 9pm. For more information, contact Columbia Gas at 440-240-6122 or Elyria Police at 440-323-3302.

Downtown Road Closures – Pops Concert, Saturday September 5, 2015

On Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 7:00AM until 9:00PM, several Downtown streets around Ely Park will be closed for the POPS Concert. The following streets will be closed:

  •  Middle Avenue from Broad Street to 3rd Street
  • Court Street from Broad Street to 3rd Street
  • 2nd Street from East Avenue to West Avenue

At the conclusion of the concert, all roads and parking would be returned to normal that evening. The concert rain date would be Sunday, September 5, 2015 at 7:00pm. In the event of a rain date the road closures would remain in effect over Saturday night September 5.

Emergency sewer repair and road closure at 163 Fairlawn

There is currently an emergency sewer repair and road closure at 163 Fairlawn, expected to last for several hours. Fairlawn is closed between Taylor and Clark. Emergency services have been notified. Questions should be directed to the Elyria City Engineer’s Office @ (440) 326-1444.

ROAD CLOSURE

OLIVE STREET @ NORFOLK & SOUTHERN RAILROAD TRACKS

On Monday, April 30, 2012, at 8:00 AM, Olive Street will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian through traffic between Cleveland Street and Taylor Street. This closure will allow N & S R/R to make crossing grade improvements.

The work zone will be within the railroad’s right of way. This closure will be from Monday, April 30, 2012 at 8 AM to Friday, May 4, 2012 at 5 PM.

All south bound traffic on Olive Street will detour east or west onto Cleveland Street. All north bound traffic on Olive Street will detour east or west onto Taylor Street. N & S Railroad will install all traffic devices at Cleveland & Taylor Street.

ROAD CLOSURE
LAKE AVE AT FOSTER AVE
R/R CROSSING REPAIRS

               

On Monday, August 20, 2012, at 8:00 AM, Lake Ave and Foster Ave will be closed to all through traffic.  All north bound traffic on Lake Ave will be detour north bound onto Adams Street to Bell Ave., west on Bell Ave to Lake Ave.   All south bound traffic on Lake Ave will be detour west onto Spruce Street, south on Woodland, east on Lowell Street to Lake Ave.  All east bound traffic on Foster Ave will be detour east or west onto Woodland Ave.  All west bound traffic on Foster Ave will be detour south or north onto Adams Street.  Also Bond Street rail crossing between Adams and Lake Ave., will be repaired. The detour will be on Adams Street and Lake Ave.

This closure will be from Monday, August 20, 2012, at 8 AM to Friday, August 24, 2012 at 5 PM.  This closure will allow CSX Railroad Company to repair the rail crossing on Lake Ave and Foster Ave., and Bond Street crossing.

Road Closure: Taylor Street between SR 57 and Ternes Avenue

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 3:00am, the eastbound lane of Taylor Street will be closed between State Route 57 and Ternes Avenue to all vehicular traffic. Emergency vehicles will be permitted through the closure.  Westbound traffic will be maintained.  This closure will allow the City of Elyria to install a permanent pavement repair.

The closure will be from 3:00am to 5:00pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

All eastbound traffic will be detoured to E. Broad Street and then Ternes Avenue.

SR 57 Corridor Project Update – 6/27/14

SR 57 Corridor Project

Update on work for the week of June 30

ELYRIA (Friday, June 27, 2014) – The Ohio Department of Transportation District 3 provides the following update on the State Route 57 corridor improvement project in the City of Elyria:

Midway Mall Boulevard/Tillotson Street – Temporary pavement will be installed on the north side of the intersection, both east and west of Tillotson Street. Traffic will be maintained through the intersection at all times.

  • On Wednesday, July 2, the work zone will be installed on the south half of the intersection, including the entrance to Midway Mall. One lane of traffic will be maintained on Midway Mall Boulevard in each direction.
  • Beginning Wednesday, July 2, there will be no access to the Midway Mall entrance at Tillotson Street. Midway Mall customers will have access from the entrance east of Tillotson Street or through Travelers Lane, west of Red Lobster. This will remain in place through late August.

Leona Street/Midway Mall Boulevard – A work zone remains in place at the northeast quadrant of the intersection. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times through the intersection.

State Route 57 – Traffic on SR 57, between the Midway Mall Boulevard and the Ohio Turnpike, will be shifted temporarily on to the shoulders as the contractor installs a work zone. Only one lane of traffic will be maintained on SR 57 north and southbound from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2. Once this work is complete, SR 57
traffic will be divided with a concrete barrier wall and two lanes of traffic will remain in place both north and southbound.

SR 57 Corridor Project

Update on work for the week of July 7

ELYRIA (Thursday, July 3, 2014) – The Ohio Department of Transportation District 3 provides the following update on the State Route 57 corridor improvement project in the City of Elyria:

State Route 57:  Traffic has been shifted on to the outside shoulders, and two lanes remain in each direction between the Midway Mall Boulevard and the Ohio Turnpike. The contractor will work within the median during this phase of reconstruction, and traffic will remain in this pattern through the Fall.

Midway Mall Boulevard/Tillotson Street: The work zone is now in place on the southern half of the intersection. The contractor is removing the existing pavement, relocating fire hydrants, and placing aggregate base.

  • There is no longer access to the Midway Mall from Tillotson Street. Midway Mall customers will have access from the entrance east of Tillotson Street or through Travelers Lane, west of Red Lobster. This will remain in place through late August.

Leona Street/Midway Mall Boulevard: The work zone will switch on Monday, July 7 to the northwest quadrant of the intersection for reconstruction work. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times through the intersection.

Griswold Road: Beginning Friday, July 11, the contractor will begin reconstruction of the southern half of Griswold Road,
both east and west of SR 57. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times.

Traffic Advisories – Week of July 7 – *UPDATED*

As part of our ongoing efforts to imporove your infrastructure, the following traffic advisories will be in effect this week:

  • Columbia Avenue will be closed to thru-traffic at Sherman Street during the afternoon on Tuesday, July 8
  • *UPDATED* West River Road will be closed to thru-traffic from Lake to Furnace for sewer repair all day Tuesday, July 8 AND Thursday, July 10th
  • Columbia Avenue will be closed to thru-traffic from East River to Park Avenue on Wednesday, July 9

Traffic Advisory – Gulf Road between Hilliard and Burns Road

On Wednesday, November 5th, 2014 at 8:00am through Thursday November 6th, 2014 at 5:00pm, Gulf Road will be closed to through traffic between Burns Road and Hilliard Road.  All north bound traffic on Gulf Road will detour east onto Hilliard Road.  All south bound traffic on Gulf Road will detour east onto Burns Road.  Local traffic will be maintained.

This closure will allow City’s crews to complete road surface repairs from water main breaks in this area as well as guard rail replacement between Vista Ct. and Whitman Blvd.

Traffic Advisory – Warden Avenue

Today, September 4, 2014, Warden Avenue between Lake Avenue and Adams Street will be closed to through traffic for street repairs.  The road will be open to local traffic only.   The road will remain closed until the repair is completed which should be by the end of the work day today.

Traffic Advisory – Winckles Street

Today, September 3, 2014, WINCKLES STREET between E. BROAD STREET and CLARK STREET will be closed to through traffic for a sewer
repair.  The road will be open to local traffic only.   The road will remain closed until the repair is completed which should be by the end of the work day today.

Traffic Advisory: Furnace Street Closed starting 11/10/14

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve your infrastructure, Furnace Street between Lake Avenue and West River will be closed beginning Monday, November 10th and will remain closed until further notice. Detours will be posted and will be necessary for the duration of the project.  More details will be posted as they are made available.

Traffic Advisory: Furnace Street Closed – UPDATED

Today,  September 29, 2014, Furnace Street between Lake Avenue and West River Road North will be closed to through traffic for pavement repairs. Traffic will need to use alternate routes. It will remain closed until the repair is completed. The repairs are located in front of 226 and 372 Furnace Street.
