Congratulations to Dave Rothgery and Chris Parker for their selection as Employees of the Month!
Chris Parker has worked for the City of Elyria for 24 years. Carrie Reardon, Director of Parks and Recreation, nominated Chris for Employee of the Month because of his outstanding initiative and willingness to go above and beyond in serving Elyria’s residents.
As Elyria was preparing for the Garford Arts Fest, Chris noticed Kerstetter Way needed a bit of cleanup. Without being asked, he grabbed a trimmer and got to work, returning to the office covered in clippings and sweat only after the entire street looked just right. Director Reardon also reports that Chris took the initiative to put a team together to tidy up Ely Square just before the Cleveland POPS Concert took place. “He never hesitates to jump in to make sure projects are completed,” Director Reardon said. “He doesn’t wait – he get’s it done!”
SafetyService Director Chris Pyanowski nominated Dave Rothgery for Employee of the Month due to his consistent problem-solving skills and his commitment to serving the City of Elyria. Director Pyanowski said that Dave played a key role in the City’s response to the Water Pumping Plant power outage in August. “He rose to the challenge and mobilized his team” to ensure water pumping would continue despite the extraordinarily-difficult circumstances. His performance throughout the incident “illustrates Dave’s consistency and leadership,” Directory Pyanowski said.
Furthermore, when miscommunication caused confusion around the Rural Water sewer credit, Dave took it upon himself to create a new document for residents to help clear up the matter. He took multiple calls from residents to answer their questions and personally volunteered to assist in wire installations so residents’ meters could be more easily read. “At the heart of our daily responsibilities is service to our residents and Dave Rothgery exemplifies this duty every day,” Directory Pyanowski said.
