Session I : November 7- December 13. Session I: will meet once a week for six weeks
(No Class 11/24)Thursday lessons end on December 22.
Session II: January 9- February 16. Session II will meet once a week for six weeks
Session III: February 20 – March 8. Session II will meet TWICE a week for three weeks

Class Description
-
Basic 1
This class is designed for the beginning ice skater. Students start by learning about their skates, proper fit and how to lace and tie them correctly. Skills include skating in a straight line and gliding.

Basic 2
This class introduces the skills necessary to going forward, backward, moving snowplow stop, backward two foot swizzles, turning from forward to backward, gliding backward on two feet. The skater also learns one foot forward gliding, forward and backward slaloms.

Basic 3
At this level the skater is asked to refine their stroking by learning to turn the foot out before pushing. Forward and backward swizzles, two foot spin, gliding backward.

Basic 4
Forward outside three turn from a T position. Forward crossover, backward one foot gliding and forward inside and outside edges are introduced.

Basic 5
The edges taught in the last level will now have a turn added to them. One foot spin will be reviewed and revolutions added along with the proper exit. Side toe hop, T-stop with an outside edge. Backward crossovers along with inside and outside edge work is introduced.

Basic 6
Skaters will learn hockey stops, bunny hops, spirals, lunge backward to forward two foot on a circle.

Basic 7
Skaters will work on mohawk from T position, backward crossovers and beginning scratch spin.

Basic 8
Skills worked on will be mazurka, waltz jump, outside and inside 3 turn on a circle, forward inside pivots.

Adult Beginner/Advanced
Adults (16 years of age and older) will be split into groups according to their skating ability. First time skaters will be grouped together to learn the basic balancing and falling skills needed. Those that already know how to skate will learn advanced edges, stops, turns and improve their current skating skills.

Precision Team Skating Skills
This is open to skaters that have completed Basic 5 or higher. Precision team skating involves a team of eight or more skaters skating various maneuvers and formations to music.
- Skating DynamicsA skills endurance program designed to develop power stroking, forward and backward crossovers, edge control, step sequences and turning techniques. Skaters should be Basic 5 level or higher. 30 minutes of instruction and 15 free skate. Great for synchronized, free-style and recreational skaters.
Tot Class Description

Snowplow Sam 1 (Tot Class)
This class starts off the ice. Parents are shown the correct way to lace and tighten ice skates. Students are shown how to stand on their skates, bend, fall and the correct way to get up. Once on the ice, the same procedures are done to get the students comfortable with falling and getting up by themselves. Students will also learn to march forward and glide and dip.

Snowplow Sam 2 (Tot Class)
Forward marching should be stronger and a two foot glide with a deep knee bend is introduced. Hop on two feet forward and swizzles and the snowplow stop are introduced. Backwards skating is also introduced.

Snowplow Sam 3 (Tot Class)
Youth basic skating skills are introduced. Forward marching and one foot short glides are started. The snowplow stop is worked on along with backward swizzles.
